Northeast Jacksonville is bordered by the west by I95, to the south by the St. Johns River and to the East by the Atlantic Ocean. Samples Creek and Amelia Island are to the North.
Until the early 2000's Northeast Jacksonville was very underdeveloped. The housing boom brought new communities and The River City Mall to the area. The smoke stacks of the clean coal power plant is a fixture of the area as well as the port and the Jacksonville Zoo.
The area is an easy commute to downtown as well as a favorite area for sailors and their families stationed at Naval Station Mayport which is under a 30 minute drive from the area.
Due to the area growing so rapidly in 2005-2007 now there are many foreclosure homes for sale in the area as well as short sales in North Jacksonville.
Northeast Jacksonville also offers some of the best riverfront real estate from a fishermans perspective. Having a home on Heckscher Drive means only a 15 minute boat ride to deep sea fishing. The Broward River, Dunns creek and Samples Creek in Northeast Jacksonville provides tidal access and marsh access to many homes in Northeast Jacksonville. While living on any water in Jacksonville comes with a price premium, the premiums for these St. Johns river tributaries is less than in other areas of Jacksonville. Some of the best waterfront prices in Northeast Florida can be found in the area.
