Mansions isn't a word used in my vocabulary very much, but I had a call today asking what was the asking price for a mansion in Jacksonville Florida....
We'll that's a good questions, first let's determine what a mansion is.
Per Trulia: The median sales price for homes in Jacksonville FL for Aug 13 to Nov 13 was $136,000 based on 1,707 home sales
Per The NEFAR MLS there were 162 homes sold between $132,000 & $138,000
The average Sqft for those 162 homes 1673sqft.
So let's say that's the average sqft of a home in Jackosnville (i know it's not exact but couldn't find the info anywhere else)
So what would make a home a mansion in Jacksonville?
Double the size to 3,346sqft ?
I see 3,000 sqft home all the time and the word mansion doesn't come to mind.
So if you triple the average size home in Jackonville Florida that comes to 5,019
Now that's more like it
On this website there are just over 150 homes with that kind of sqft. or what I can now define as a mansion in Jacksonville.
Prices start just at $500,000 and go as high as almost $8,000,000
